If you are having a mental health emergency or having thoughts of suicide please call or text the crisis line at 9-8-8 or call 9-1-1
Mobility Impairment
If you've had an accident or illness that has changed your mobility or you were born with a mobility impairment it can sometimes feel like you are navigating in world not built for you surrounded by well meaning people who don't quite understand. If you want a therapist who understands your challenges please reach out to me. I was born with Cerebral Palsy and I use a wheelchair for mobility so I understand the impact of mobility impairments. I am also in the process of getting a Master of Arts in Disability Studies.
Anxiety & Panic Attacks
If you wake up in the morning and your mind is already filled with a million worries for the day ahead buzzing like bees around a flower and you feel completely overwhelmed I can help. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of Psychotherapy that looks at how your thoughts feelings and behaviors all impact each other. I can teach you how to use CBT and coping skills, and exposure to get your anxiety under control. (I can also help with Psychoeducation and coping skills for Stress Management.)
Depression
Depression can fill your mind with negative thoughts, drain your energy, and make doing anything feel like you are walking around carrying a fifty pound bag of rocks. If you are tired of feeling this way I can help. I've successfully used CBT techniques such as reframing and behavioral activation as well as examining and challenging negative thoughts to help people experiencing Depression. Motivational interviewing can help with Depression as well.
Grief
Grief can feel like a bomb went off completely decimating your life. Everyone else keeps going on with their lives, but you don't know how you are supposed to with a loss that big. The year of firsts without your loved one can be very difficult, but no one tells you how hard the second year will be. You might be experiencing shock, denial, bargaining, grief bursts when doing completely ordinary activities. Wherever you are in your grief process you don't have to handle it alone. During my graduate training I did an internship with Hospice and worked with the Bereavement Coordinator to help people experiencing grief and loss.
Trauma & PTSD
(For individuals 18 and up)
Do you have nightmares, flashbacks, struggle with being in crowds or have triggers from a traumatic experience or repeated traumatic experiences that have happened to you in the past? If you are willing to face your past and do the hard work we can get your life back. (Note: I only do trauma work with individuals 18 and up utilizing Prolonged Exposure (PE) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I prefer trauma therapy appointments to be in person appointments. Please note both PE and CPT involve discussing your trauma or aspects of your trauma (depending on which modality is used.)
Dermatillomania & Tichitillomania
(skin picking & hair pulling)
If you pick at your skin or pull your hair and have tried to stop but can't or want to stop but feel too overwhelmed to even know where to start I can help. We will use a Cognitive Behavioral based model called the Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB) by Mansueto, Vaverichek and Golomb to help you become aware of when you are engaging in the behavior, and what your triggers are for engaging in the behavior then develop healthy coping skills as replacement behaviors. (Please note: This is a treatment for Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior not Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). If you have been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder the gold standard treatment is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERB) and I DO NOT have sufficient training in ERB at this time.)
